Then your auto-reply tells them you answer DMs on Tuesdays.

You don't need a long reply. "Hey, love this idea, give me a day and I'll come back to you properly" does the job, because it tells them there's a person on the other end and they're not in a queue.
The hour matters more than the words.
If you can't watch your DMs all day, and nobody can while they're tattooing, pick two windows: one before your first client, one after your last. That's still same day, and same day is most of the win.
And read your auto-reply like a stranger would. "Back to you tonight" is a promise. "Please allow 5–7 business days" is a door closing.
